Electronics design and engineering solutions

If you’re looking to minimise time to market and cost, using our expertise in design for excellence (DfX) encompasing design for manufacture (DfM) and design for test (DfT) will get you off to a flying start.

This is a typical example.

Our development services help identify any issues early on to assure products are straightforward to manufacture. As OSIE UK’s Engineering Manager, remarked:

“A lot of CEM companies say they do DfX, DfM and DfT but actually don’t, so it was good to come here and find the engineering team have this ingrained. It’s the first thing they think about when they see a new product and willingly suggest ways to make it easier and more cost efficient to manufacture – a distinct benefit for customers.

“The interesting thing is the majority of design engineers will have come straight out of university, gone into the design side of things and not necessarily into manufacturing, so they don’t have that first-hand experience of how a product is actually made.

“Visiting our facilities and seeing how we make products gives great value to the customer – because of how we handle a product during its build, they understand why we ask them to do ‘this’ or why we prefer them to panelise in a certain way.”

Engineering excellence

Our engineering and production teams can add value to the product development process through involvement in every stage of the development cycle – by producing prototypes and assessing / advising on the suitability for volume manufacture.

Our creative and technical capabilities take our customers’ concept to completion and help launch it into production. OSIE end-to-end engineering, test and tailored manufacturing systems enable our people in St Neots to help you to create high performance electronics.

Quality work, trained technicians

Assembling intricate electronics requires skilled and well trained technicians who can follow instructions and drawings to ensure every product is assembled correctly.

All our team are trained to IPC610 class 1, 2 & 3. We have training facilities in-house to ensure all our engineers and technicians maintain the highest standards of workmanship.

We have accreditations for quality management (ISO 9001: 2015), medical devices (ISO 13485: 2016) and environmental management (ISO 14001: 2015); all are certified ahead of expiry.

We are also an approved sub-contractor under the ATEX Directive and a certified sub-contractor for UL Approved Products.

And overseas, our facilities in Indonesia, Malaysia and the USA have AS 9100 certification for aerospace, defence and military work and ISO/TS 16949 for automotive applications.
