EMS manufacturing contractor OSI Electronics UK has appointed Derek Williams (below) as its head of operations.
Derek, who has an MBA in business administration, has held senior operational posts in contract electronics manufacturing companies since 2002.
“I’m tasked with building and developing a team scalable and capable of meeting the on-going needs of the CEM industry,” said Derek. “My role will be to reshape the manufacturing operation by improving efficiency through new equipment, training and practice and recruiting industry experts to join our team.”
“OSI Electronics in the UK is growing at a remarkable pace,” said Mark Fox, the company’s managing director. “From a £15m turnover last year, we’ll be over £20m by the end of this financial year.
“As our customer base grows, so we must keep pace with their needs and invest in people and equipment.
“Since Briton EMS and Union Four Electronics became OSI Electronics UK 12 months ago and moved eveyone to our St Neots HQ, we’ve integrated the personnel from the two companies, strengthened our commercial side and are now enhancing our manufacturing capabilities.
“By this summer we’ll have increased our floor area from 35,000 to 55,000 ft² (3,250 to 5,100 m²). Derek will be key to improving throughput and eliminating bottlenecks without sacrificing quality. His background in the electronics industry is ideal for us – we are fortunate to have been able to appoint him at this crucial stage in our growth.”
OSI Electronics UK is a subsidiary of Californian based OSI Electronics.
